NOTES:

In November 46, CDR David B. OVERFIELD was still XO, having reported aboard April 26, 1946.1

CDR J. A. THOMAS is shown as the XO at the beginning of the February 47 deck log but at the beginning of the January deck log he is shown as the Air Officer and there is no listing for OVERFIELD.1

5 February log entry that certain personnel were being sent to FTC Bremerton on the operation of the Mk 34 radar. Was this added to the ship during the yard period?

Deck Logs from 1 March to 10 March 1947 are signed by the Navigator, CDR J. B. BURKS, USN. Logs from 11 March to 31 March 1947 are signed by CDR Groome E. MARCUS, Jr., Navigator.1

CDR James R. REEDY came aboard on July 1, 1947 as the prospective Air Officer. The August 47 logs show REEDY as the Air Officer and the Executive Officer. The September and October logs show him as just the Executive Officer.1

October 47 list of officers lists George A. ALES, LTJG, M Division Officer, reporting aboard on 15 March 1944. He would be the longest serving officer aboard. The second longest serving officer aboard ITTE, Charles M., LTJG, USN, F Division Officer, reported aboard July 4, 1944. There are several other division officers who reported aboard on September 15, 1944.1

During the last couple months, while the ship was in San Francisco, both moored and in dry dock, there seemed to be a rash of disciplinary actions (non-judicial punishment) for shirking duty, sleeping in vacant staterooms and AWOL.1
